Pizza take-out chain Papa Johns drops their first collection of NFTs today! The limited number of 19840 NFTs (Papa Johns was established in 1984) will be minted on the Tezos blockchain and will feature nine different hot bag designs. The NFTs will be FREE for people to redeem by scanning a QR code on their pizza box, in their delivery e-mail, or through Papa Johns’ social media accounts.
Jo Blundell, Vice President of international marketing at Papa Johns says that “there is so much global hype surrounding NFTs right now, but not everyone understands what they are or how to get one. It’s the main reason why Papa Johns is making an effort to bring NFTs into the mainstream in order make them available for pizza fans, digital art collectors and meta-professionals”.
This is not the first time Papa Johns is trying to enter the world of NFTs and crypto; last year, the company launched a promotion where customers could win £10 ($13) worth of bitcoin (BTC) when they spent more than £30 ($39). Unfortunately, it didn’t play well with UK’s Advertising Standards Authority, who deemed it “irresponsible” as it “took advantage of consumers’ inexperience or credulity and trivialized investment in cryptocurrency”. The ad was subsequently banned.
