A rug pull headed by a NBA player? NBA Sacramento Kings player, De’Aaron Fox, is facing some severe backlash. Fox recently announced that he would be taking a break from his ongoing NFT project “Swipa The Fox” and went on to delete the project twitter account, official website, and Discord.
Before Fox decided to withdraw, over 3000 buyers had already spent US$1.5 million for the collection and angry fans couldn’t believe that Fox would ditch the project. “Swipa The Fox” had promised several exciting perks to owning their NFT including building a basketball court in the meta verse, as well as providing NBA All-Star Game tickets and scholarships to the University of Kentucky.
Fox later explained on Twitter that he could not afford to carry the project anymore during game season and stated that he would restart the NFTs and increase its value during off-season. Fox also offered to provide buyers with a signed jersey as compensation, but that compensation only applies to holders who have purchased over 5 NFTs.
